Iām looking for test knitters for my newest shawl design, Key Lime PiĀ ā a soft, squishy half-pi shawl thatās just right for late spring through early fall. This is the second installment in my Pi Shawl Series, a set of 12 half-pi shawls inspired by classic flavors of pie (and yes ā we love a good pun in my family).
Key Lime PiĀ features graduated stripes, quite a few bobbles, and a custom lace border designed using the encoded lace technique. Itās knit top-down from a garter tab and finishes with a generous lace edge. The sample is knit in Garthenor Preseli, a beautifully soft organic yarn, and the colors ā a crisp green (Tilia) paired with a natural cream (Rigging) ā reminded me instantly of key lime pie.
That said, the best part of a test knit is seeing how others bring their own vision to the design. I love when testers choose different colors or yarn types and make the pattern their own. With about 1300 yards of fingering weight yarn in two colors and a recommended medium-to-strong contrast, there's a lot of room for creativity.
What I Love About This Shawl
Thereās something really satisfying about the combination of squishy garter stitch and structured lace. I especially enjoyed manipulating the increases and decreases to form the border motif, and I added bobbles for a little extra texture. This is the kind of project I could take anywhere ā I made a row-check chart, and after that, it was smooth, rhythmic knitting. Great for knit nights or road trips!

Iām looking for test knitters who can help check yardage requirements and provide feedback on the clarity of instructions and charts. This project is a good fit for an advanced beginner or beyond ā someone comfortable with basic lace and curious to try their hand at bobbles.
Even though all of my patterns go through tech editing, my testers always catch things I miss ā whether itās a tiny typo or a place where the language could be more beginner-friendly. Your feedback truly makes the pattern better for everyone.
Be Part of the Pi Series
This shawl is part of an ongoing series of half-pi shawls ā twelve in total ā each one inspired by a different kind of pie. Each design will explore unique lace motifs, seasonal vibes, and different yarn weights and textures. Iād love for you to be part of this sweet and woolly journey through pi.
